I love the Canadian landscape painters known as the Group of Seven (although there are actually eleven of them).  Leafing through a new book, I noticed that many of their paintings use exactly these colors.  Then I started thinking of them as the colors of Canada, and wanted to make a quilt that used the colors alone to evoke the feel of the land.

Although I did use more than color, the trompe l’oeil frame is a warning not to take the rest of the “scene” too literally.
