Pamela Zave's Art Quilts

This quilt was inspired by fabrics from my two favorite designers, Martha Negley (the large floral) and Yolanda V. Fundora (the border).  The central medallion is pieced as an inset into whole cloth, to leave the floral design undisturbed.  Quilting extends the medallion’s nested octagons into its background.

The overall layout is similar to that of a Persian rug.  All of the decorative motifs, however, come from the tradition of English textiles.
