The center of this quilt is based on the “Blooming Nine Patch” pattern from Tradition with a Twist by Blanche Young and Dalene Young Stone.  It is an organic stew, with the colors of life—green and red—slowly organizing themselves out of the surrounding chaos.

 

The traditional border evokes a nascent order.  Yet the contrasts are slight and subtle, lest the delicate balance between order and chaos, on which our life depends, be lost.
